محبوب بن محبوب بن محمد الخشني: من أهل طليطلة؛ أبا القاسم. روى عن محمد بن إبراهيم الخشني، وأبي إسحاق بن شنظير، وأبي جعفر بن ميمون وغيرهم. وكان: من أعلم أهل زمانه باللغة والعربية، بصيرا بالحديث وعلله، فهما فطنا ذكيا، كان فهمه فوق حفظه مع صلاح وفضل. توفي في المحرم سنة ستٍّ وأربعين وأربع مائة. ذكره ابن مطاهر.
