معوز بن داود بن دلهاث الأزدي التاكرني الزاهد من حفرة وندة؛ يكنى: أبا عمرو. أخذ عن مسلمة بن القاسم، وعن أبي محمد زياد وهشام بن محمد بن سليمان الطليطلي وجماعة غيرهم. وكان مفتيا جليلا، وعابدا مجتهدا، وعالما يكثر من الحديث. وكان من أهل الخير والصلاح والزهد والورع والتواضع. وعني بالعلم والأثر، وكان مجاب الدعوة. وقد حدث عنه القاضي يونس بن عبد الله، وأبو عبد الله محمد بن عتاب الفقيه وغيرهما. قال ابن خزرج: وتوفي للنصف من جمادى الأولى سنة إحدى وثلاثين وأربع مائة. وله بضع وثمانون سنة.
