محمد بن سليمان بن محمود الخولاني الظاهري؛ يكنى: أبا سالم.قدم الأندلس تاجراً سنة ثلاث وعشرين وأربع مائة. ذكره ابن خزرج وقال: دلنا عليه أبو الحسن بن عبادل ووافيته وروينا عنه بعض كتبه. وكان: من أهل الذكاء والحفظ والشعر الحسن، متصرفا في فنون من العلم، ذا رواية واسعة عن جلة من شيوخ العراق وخراسان وغيرها وروايته عالية جدا. قرأ القراءات السبع على أبي أحمد السامري بمصر، وكان معتقدا لمذهب داود وأصحابه محتجا لهم وقال: أجاز لي روايته في شعبان سنة ثلاث وعشرين وأربع مائة. وهو يومئذ ابن أربع وسبعين عاما.
