محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن محمد بن عوف: من أهل قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا عبد الله. تفقه بقرطبة وسمع بها وبغيرها، ولقي أبا عبد الله بن أبي زمنين وسمع منه. ودخل الجذام وسمع منه بها وكان في الفقه إماما وهو من بيت رياسة وجلالة في الدنيا، ونصرمع السلاطين، وكف بصره فاشتغل بالفقه ورأس فيه وكان يقول: ذهب بصري فخير لي، ولولا ذلك سلكت طريقة أبي وأهلي. وتوفي سنة أربع وثلاثين وأربع مائة. ذكره الحميدي.
