محمد بن عبد الله بن هرثمة بن ذكوان: من أهل قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا حاتم. صحب القاضي أبا بكر بن زرب، وتفقه عنده وولاه الشورى بقرطبة مجموعة له إلى قضاء فريش وغيرهما، ثم تولى أحكام المظالم بقرطبة؛ وكان محمودا في أحكامه، حسن السيرة فيها، وله بصر بالفقه. وكان كثير الأحاديث غريب الحكايات. حدث عنه أبو عبد الله بن عابد وأثنى عليه وقال: توفي سنة أربع عشرة وأربع مائة. زاد ابن حيان في منصف شهر رمضان يوم الأربعاء. وكان مولده سنة أربع وأربعين وثلاث مائة. وصلى عليه القاضي عبد الرحمن بن بشر.
