محمد بن عبد الله بن مفوز بن عمران بن عبد ربه بن صواب بن مدرك ابن سلام بن جعفر المعافري - وجعفر هو الداخل بالأندلس -: من أهل قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا عبد الله.سمع من وهب بن مسرة كثيرا، ولازمه طويلا. وحج سنة اثنتين وأربعين وثلاث مائة. وسمع بإفريقية من أبي العباس ابن أبي العرب، وتوفي بعد سنة عشر وأربع مائة. وكان فقيهاً زاهداً. ذكره أبو عمر بن عبد البر؛ وحدث عنه أيضا من الكبار أبو الوليد بن الفرضي، وأبو عبد الله بن شق الليل الحافظ وغيرهما.
