محمد بن عبد الله بن هاني بن هابيل اللخمي البزاز: من أهل قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا عبد الله. سمع: من أحمد بن سعيد بن حزم، وأبي بكر الدينوري، وأحمد بن مطرف، وأبي إبراهيم، وابن أبي العطاف. ورحل إلى المشرق سنة سبعٍ وخمسين وثلاث مائة. وحج وكتب الحديث عن أكابر لحقهم. وكان فقيها محدثا كثير الحفظ لأخبار فقهاء الأندلس. حدث عنه الخولاني وأثنى عليه، وأبو محمد بن نامي، وأبو عمر بن سميق، وأبو محمد بن حزم وغيرهم. قال ابن حيان: توفي ودفن بمقبرة الربض بعد صلاة العصر من يوم الأربعاء لسبعٍ خلون من شهر ربيع الأول سنة عشر وأربعمائة وصلى عليه ابن بشر القاضي وكان قد نيف على الثمانين، ومولده سنة ثمان وعشرين وثلاث مائة.
