عبادة بن عبد الله بن محمد بن عبادة بن أفلح بن الحسين بن يحيى بن سعيد ابن قيس بن سعد بن عبادة الأنصاري الخزرجي، كذا نسبه أبو الوليد بن الفرضي في كتاب طبقات الشعراء له: ويعرف بابن ماء السماء الأديب: من أهل قرطبة؛ يكنى: أبا بكر. أخذ عن أبي بكر الزبيدي وغيره. وكان شاعرا مقدما أخذ عنه الأديب أبو محمد غانم بن وليد المالقي، قال ابن حيان: وتوفي عبادة في شوال سنة تسع عشرة وأربع مائة بمالقة.
