علي بن أحمد بن محمد بن أشج الفهمي المقرئ من أهل طليطلة؛ يكنى أبا الحسن. روى عن أبي عبد الله المغامي، وأبي الحسن بن الإلبيري، وأبي داود المقرئ، ومحمد بن مفرج وغيرهم. واختلف معنا إلى شيخنا أبي محمد بن عتاب وأخذ معنا عنه وهو كبير السن وأخذنا عنه بعض ما عنده. وكان رجلا فاضلا قديم الطلب وافر الأدب. وتوفي بالعدوة سنة ثلاث عشر وخمسمائة.
