شيخ آخر: هو أبو محمد، الموفق بن علي بن محمد بن ثابت بن أحمد، الفقيه، الخرقي، الثابتي، من أهل خرق.كان فقيهًا، فاضلًا، ورعًا، زاهدًا، حسن الأخلاق، متواضعًا، لم أر في أهل العلم مثله، خلقًا وسيرة. وكان إذا جلس بين الخواص والعوام لا يعلم أحد أنه من العلماء. وكان يصوم أكثر أيامه، فإذا جخل من يزوره يقدم بين يديه شيئًا مما حضر ويوافقه ويأكل ولا يرى أنه كان صائمًا. تفقه على الإمامين والدي، والحسين بن مسعود الفراء. وقرأ الخلاف ببخارى على أبي بكر الطبري، وتلمذ له، وكان يحفظ المذهب. كتبت عنه شيئًا يسيرًا بخرق. وتوفي بها يوم الخميس الثامن والعشرين من شهر رمضان، سنة أربعين وخمس مائة.
