هو أبو بكر، المفضل بن إسماعيل بن محمد بن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الوهاب الصندوقي، المديني، أخو أبي الحسن معمر. سمع أبا المظفر محمود بن محمد بن أحمد الكوسج. لقيته بأصبهان، واستجزت منه، وكتب لي خطه بالإجازة عن نفسه، وعن أخيه في جمادى الأولى سنة إحدى وثلاثين.
