شيخ آخر: هو أبو بكر، محمود بن محمد بن محمود بن محمد بن علي بن محمد بن علي بن شجاع الشجاعي، السرخسي، المعروف بالسره مرد.كان شيخًا من أولاد الأئمة، صالحًا، سديد السيرة، كثير الخير. ولم يكن يعلم إلا يسيرًا من العلم. سمع شيخنا أباه أبا نصر، وأبا الفتح ناصر بن أحمد بن محمد بن عبد الله العياضي، وأبا الفتيان عمر بن عبد الكريم بن سعدويه الرواسي الحافظ، وغيرهم. كتبت عنه بسرخس في النوبة الخامسة. وكانت ولادته. . . وأربع مائة بسرخس. وقتل في وقعة الغز بسرخس في شهر رمضان، وقيل في ذي القعدة، سنة تسع وأربعين وخمس مائة.
