شيخ آخر: هو أبو سعد، محمد بن عبد الحميد بن أحمد بن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن أحمد بن محمد، الزاز، السرخسي، من أهل سرخس. كان شيخًا حسن الهيئة، مليح الشيبة.سمع الكثير، وحدث بالقليل. سمع عم والده أبا الفضل عبد الرحيم بن محمد بن أحمد الزاز، وأبا محمد عبد الصمد بن محمد بن الحسن القلانسي الصوفي، وأبا ذر عبد الرحيم بن أحمد بن محمد الأديب السرخسيين، وغيرهم. كتبت عنه بسرخس، ثم قدم علينا مرو، وكتبت عنه بمرو. وكانت ولادته في أحد الربيعين من سنة سبعين وأربع مائة بسرخس. وتوفي بها في المحرم، من سنة ثلاث وخمسين وخمس مائة.
