شيخ آخر: هو خالي أبو عبد الله، محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن أبي نصر، الزندخاني، من أهل سرخس.كان من بيت الرئاسة والتقدم، وهو في نفسه سليم الجانب، قليل الشر، متودد. سمع بمرو أبا علي إسماعيل بن أحمد بن الحسين البيهقي، في الوقت الذي كان يتفقه على والدي ﵀. قرأت عليه حديثًا واحدًا من حفظي بسرخس من البيتوتة لأبي العباس السراج، ثم قرأت عليه جميع البيتوتة بسرخس، بروايته عن أبي حامد الأزهري، وأبي عثمان العيار، كلاهما عن أبي محمد المخلدي، عن السراج. وكانت ولادته في حدود سنة تسعين وأربع مائة أو قبلها. وقتل في وقعة الغز وإغارتهم على سرخس في ذي القعدة، سنة تسع وأربعين وخمس مائة بعد أن عوقب بالنار.
