شيخ آخر: هو أبو سعد، محمد بن أسعد بن محمد بن الخليل، النوقاني، من أهل نوقان إحدى بلدتي طوس، الملقب بالسديد. كان شهمًا من الرجال، جلدًا، كافيًا، منطقيًا، وهو قرابة الإمام محمد بن أبي العباس النوقاني. تفقه على الإمام أبي حامد محمد بن محمد بن محمد الغزالي، وتلمذ له. لقيته بطوس أولا سنة ثلاثين وخمس مائة، ثم بعد ذلك قدم علينا مرو سنة اثنتين وخمسين وخمس مائة وأقام مدة وانصرف إلى نوقان وولي بها القضاء. ولما خرج عسكر الغز إلى المشهد لعلي بن موسى الرضا وحاصروه كان السديد فيه، وقتل في ذي القعدة، سنة ست وخمسين وخمس مائة.
