هو أبو نصر، محمد بن أحمد بن عبد الله، الغوسناني الهروي، المعروف بالرضا، من أهل هراة، وغوسنان إحدى قرى هراة.فقيه صائن عفيف، حسن السيرة، كثير العبادة والتهجد. تفقه بنيسابور على الإمام محمد بن يحيى، وسمع أبا القاسم الفضل بن محمد بن أحمد العطار الأبيوردي، وغيره. وسمع معنا الكثير عن مشايخ هراة، وكان يلازم المجالس التي أمليها ويكتبها، وسمع ولدي عني وبقراءتي، وكتبت عنه شيئًا يسيرًا. وكانت ولادته قبل سنة خمس مائة. وتوفي بقريته غوسنان ليلة الجمعة الخامس من شعبان، سنة تسع وأربعين وخمس مائة.
