أبو محمد عبد اللطيف بن عبد الرشيد بن الحسين الأديب الهروي منأهل هراة. كان فقيها أديبا، حسن السيرة، له سمت وسكون، وكان أولاد الأكابر يختلفون إليه، ويتعلمون منه اللغة والأدب، وكان له شعر على طريقة الفقهاء سهل المأخذ. سمع: أبا الفتح نصر بن أحمد الحنفي الأسدي. سمعت منه بهراة في النوبة الأولى شيئا يسيرا سنة أربعين، ثم قدم علينا بلخ سنة ست وأربعين. وتوفي بها عصر يوم السبت، ودفن من الغد التاسع من جمادى الآخرة، سنة ست وأربعين وخمس مائة، ودفن بمقبرة سكة أنبارك.
