شيخ آخر: هو أبو بكر عبد الله بن مسعود بن هوهو السرخسي وبعض أصحابنا سماه عتيقًا، وخرج عنه أبو القاسم الحافظ في ترجمة عتيق، وهو من أهل سرخس. شيخ مشهور، كبير السن، حسن الصوت بالقرآن، وكان يضع الطرق بالأصوات الطيبة، ويعلم الناس ذلك. سمع: السيد أبا الحسن محمد بن محمد بن زيد الحسيني الحافظ. سمعت منه شيئًا. وكانت ولادته في سنة إحدى وخمسين وأربع مائة بسرخس. وتوفي بها غرة ذي القعدة، سنة أربعين وخمس مائة.
