أبو النجم طالب بن زيد بن علي بن شهريار البيع الأصبهاني من أهل أصبهان. شيخ من ذوي الهيئات النبلاء، مكثر من الحديث. سمع: أبا زيد أحمد، وأبا منصور شجاع، ابني علي بن شجاع المصقلي، وأبا الفتح عبد الجبار بن عبد الله بن إبراهيم بن برزة الرازي الجوهري الواعظ، وأبا علي الحسن بن عمر بن الحسن بن يونس الحافظ، وأبا مسعود سليمان بن إبراهيم الحافظ، وغيرهم. كتبت عنه بأصبهان، وسمعت منه كتاب مائة حديث عن مائة شيخ، لأبي علي بن يونس الأصبهاني، قرأته عليه بروايته عن المصنف، وغير ذلك.وكانت ولادته في حدود سنة خمسين وأربع مائة، أو بعدها. ووفاته يوم الثلاثاء الثالث أو الثاني من شهر رمضان، سنة إحدى وثلاثين وخمس مائة.
