شيخ آخر: هو أبو الوفاء رستم بن أبي هاشم سعد بن سلمك الخواري القاضي بخوار الري. شيخ فاضل، بهي المنظر، متودد. لقيته بخوار الري في التوجه إلى العراق، وفي انصرافي عنها لقيته بالري. سمع بالري: أبا العلاء عبد الكريم بن علي بن عبد الله البياضي، وأبا الفرج محمد بن محمود بن الحسن القزويني، وأبا المحاسن عبد الواحد بن إسماعيل الروياني الإمام، وغيرهم. كتبت عنه شيئًا يسيرًا بالري وخوار الري. وكانت ولادته في سنة أربع وستين وأربع مائة. ووفاته. . . . .أنشدنا أبو الوفاء بن أبي هاشم من لفظه بخوار الري وكتب لي بخطه: كيف احتيالي ورابني الأمل ... وليس في صحيفتي عمل زادي قليل ورحلتي قربت ... من فقد الزاد كيف يرتحل؟
