السيد أبو المعالي حمزة بن أحمد بن محمد الحسيني العلويالمعروف بالكرماني من أهل مرو.كان علويًا فاضلًا، مليح الشيبة، متعمقًا في العبارة، كثير المحفوظ مقدمًا، حسن السيرة. سمع: جدي الإمام أبا المظفر السمعاني، وغيره. سمعت منه أحاديث يسيرة. وكانت ولادته سنة نيف وستين وأربع مائة، إن شاء الله. وفاته فجأة بعد الغسل والخروج من الحمام في المسلخ.
