ذِكْرُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ الدِّمَشْقِيِّ ﵁ كَانَ مِنْ خِيَارِ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ. قَالَ رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ: مَا أَذَّنَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ بِصَلَاةٍ الظُّهْرِ مُنْذُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً إِلَّا وَأَنَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، إِلَّا أَنْ أَكُونَ مَرِيضًا أَوْ مُسَافِرًا. قَالَ أَهْلُ التَّارِيخِ: خَرَجَ رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ غَازِيًا نَحْوَ الْمَغْرِبِ فِي بَعْثٍ بَعَثَهُ هِشَامُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، فَقُتِلَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْبَعْثِ.
