٢١٤٢ ـ على بن يوسف بن عبد الله الجوينى، أبو الحسن، المعروف بشيخ الحجاز: حدّث عن أبى نعيم عبد الملك بن الحسن الإسفرايينى بصحيح أبى عوانة، سمعه منه شيخ القضاة، إسماعيل بن أبى بكر البيهقىّ، وسمع بالبصرة من أبى عمر الهاشمىّ، وبدمشق من ابن أبى نصر، وبمصر من ابن البخارى. وروى عنه جماعة، آخرهم وجيه ابن طاهر الشّحامى، ومن طريقه روينا حديثه. وقال ابن السّمعانى: كان دمث الأخلاق، سافر وجال فى الأقطار، جاور بمكة، وصنّف كتاب «السّلوة»، يشتمل على حكايات. توفى فى ذى القعدة سنة ثلاث وستين وأربعمائة.
