١٩٦٥ ـ عثمان بن قيس بن طلحة بن العاص بن قيس السهمى: ذكره هكذا الذهبى، وقال: شهد فتح مصر مع أبيه، وهو أول من قضى بمصر. وكان شريفا سريا. قاله ابن يوسف. وهذا يدل على أن عثمان أول قضاة مصر. وكلام المزّى يدل على خلاف ذلك؛ لأنه قال فى ترجمة عثمان بن صالح السهمى: إنه مولى قيس بن العاص بن قيس بن عدى بن سهم، قاضى مصر لعمر بن الخطاب. وقال: ويقال إنه أول قاض تولّى قضاء مصر فى الإسلام.
