١٩٤٨ ـ عثمان بن أبى سليمان بن جبير بن مطعم بن عدىّ بن نوفل بن عبد مناف بن قصىّ بن كلاب القرشى النّوفلىّ المكى: قاضى مكة، روى عن: عمه نافع بن جبير بن مطعم، وابن أبى مليكة، وعامر بن عبد الله بن الزبير، وأبى سلمة بن عبد الرحمن، وسعيد بن جبير، وعروة بن الزبير. وأرسل عن صفوان بن أمية. روى عنه: إسماعيل بن أمية، وابن جريج، وابن إسحاق، وسفيان بن عيينة، وآخرون. روى له: مسلم، وأبو داود، والنّسائى، وابن ماجة، ووثقه أحمد، وابن معين، ومحمد بن سعد. وذكره ابن حبّان فى الطبقة الثالثة من الثّقات، وذكر أنه كان قاضيا بمكة.
