٩٠٦ ـ جعفر بن يحيى بن إبراهيم التميمى، المسند، أبو الفضل المكى المعروف بابن الحكاك: ولد سنة ست عشرة وأربعمائة، وسمع أبا ذر الهروى وأبا نصر السجزى، وأبا الحسن ابن صخر وغيرهم. وروى عنه الحفاظ: ابن السمرقندى، وابن ناصر، وصالح بن شافع، وآخر الرواة عنه ابن البطى، ووقع لنا حديثه من طريقه عاليا.قال ابن النجار: كان موصوفا بالمعرفة والحفظ والإتقان، وكان يترسل من أمير مكة ابن أبى هاشم، إلى الخلفاء والملوك، ويتولى قبض الأموال منهم، ويحمل كسوة الكعبة. توفى فى صفر سنة خمس وثمانين وأربعمائة. هكذا أرخ وفاته شجاع.
