٦٠٨ ـ أحمد بن عمر بن أبى بكر الهمدانى الأصل، يلقب بالشهاب، ويعرف بابن المرجانى الدمشقى: سمع على المسلم بن محمد، جزء الأنصارى، وحدث به عنه غير مرة بالحجاز، وعمر مسجد الخيف بمنى فى سنة عشرين وسبعمائة بجملة كثيرة من ماله، تزيد على خمسين ألفا، كما ذكر البرزالى فى تاريخه، ولذلك ذكرناه فى هذا الكتاب. وجاور بالمدينة أيضا.وتوفى يوم السبت ثانى عشر المحرم سنة ثمان وعشرين وسبعمائة، بدار بدرب الغنم بدمشق، ودفن بسفح قاسيون. كتبت هذه الترجمة من تاريخ البرزالى.
