١٣٩ ـ محمد بن أبى حذيفة بن عتبة بن ربيعة بن عبد شمس بن عبد مناف بن قصى بن كلاب، القرشى، العبشمى، أبو القاسم: ولد بالحبشة، وكفله عثمان بعد قتل أبيه، وبقى فى كفالته ونفقته سنين. وكان أشد الناس تأليبا على عثمان. وكان خرج إلى مصر، وعبد الله بن أبى سرح وال لها. فلما وفد عبد الله على عثمان رضى الله عنه انتزى محمد بن أبى حذيفة على مصر، ومنعه من دخولها لما عاد إليها، ثم ولاها له على بن طالب رضى الله عنه لما ولى، ثم عزله عنها بقيس بن سعد بن عبادة، ثم قتله مولى لمعاوية بن أبى سفيان حين خرج محمد إلى الشام.
