سرية عرنة ثم سرية عبد الله بن أنيس وحده إلى سفيان بن خالد الهذلى بعرنة، وهو وادى عرفة يوم الاثنين لخمس خلون من المحرم؛ لأنه بلغه ﷺ أنه يجمع لحربه. فقال له عبد الله: جئتك لأكون معك. ثم اغتره فقتله، وغاب ثمان عشرة ليلة. وقدم يوم السبت لسبع بقين منه.
