    ٢٤١٨ - المثنى بن صباح، أبو يحيى اليماني قال أبو داود: سمعت أحمد، قيل له: المثنى بن الصباح؟ فقال: كان من أهل اليمن من أبناء الفرس، فنزل مكة. فقيل لأحمد: كيف حديثه؟فقال: لم يكن مثل ابن جريج. وسمعت أحمد يحدث عن المثنى بن الصباح. "سؤالات أبي داود" (٢٤١) قال ابن هانئ: سألته عن المثنى بن صباح؟ قال: ليس حديثه بشيء، مضطرب الحديث. "مسائل ابن هانئ" (٢٢٧١) قال عبد اللَّه: سمعت أبي يقول: مثنى بن الصباح لا يسوى حديثه شيئًا، مضطرب الحديث. "العلل" رواية عبد اللَّه (٢٣٢٤) قال الفضل بن زياد: وذكر المثنى بن الصباح فقال: سمع من عطاء وطاوس، إلا أنه ليس مثل ابن جريج. "المعرفة والتاريخ" ٢/ ١٦٥
