"تاريخ بغداد" ٤١٤ - ٤١٥، "تهذيب الكمال" ٢٣/ ٣٥٨، "سير أعلام النبلاء" ١٠/ ٥٠٤، "بحر الدم" (٨٣٢). وقال أبو قدامة: سمعت أحمد بن حنبل يقول: أبو عبيد أستاذ. "تهذيب الكمال" ٢٣/ ٣٥٨، "سير أعلام النبلاء" ١٠/ ٥٠٤، "بحر الدم" (٨٣٢) قال عبد اللَّه: كتب أبي كتاب "غريب الحديث" الذي ألفه أبو عبيد أولًا. "تهذيب الكمال" ٢٣/ ٣٦٠. وقال عبد اللَّه: قال أحمد بن حنبل: عرضت كتاب "غريب الحديث" لأبي عبيد على أبي فاستحسنه، وقال: جزاه اللَّه خيرًا. "تاريخ بغداد" ١٢/ ٤٠٧، "تهذيب الكمال" (٢٣/ ٣٥٩).
