١٨٨١ - العلاء بن كثير الليثي، الدمشقي، أبو سعيد قال ابن هانئ: سألت أبا عبد اللَّه عن: العلاء بن كثير؛ قال: لا يسوي حديثهُ شيئًا. روى عن مكحول قال: قال رسول اللَّه ﷺ: "إن من نعمة اللَّه أن لا يكون لفاجر عندك يد" (١). "مسائل ابن هانئ" (٢١٥٦). قال معاوية بن صالح: سألت أحمد عن العلاء بن كثير؛ قال: حديثه ليس بشيء. "الضعفاء" للعقيلي ٣/ ٣٤٧. قال صالح: سألت أبي عن العلاء بن كثير؛ فقال: لا يسوي حديثه شيئًا. "المنتخب من علل الخلال" لابن قدامة (٣١). قال حنبل بن إسحاق: سمعت أبا عبد اللَّه يقول: العلاء بن كثير الشامي ليس بشيء، وكان قدم الكوفة فسمعوا منه بالكوفة. "تهذيب الكمال" (٢٢/ ٥٣٥).
