    إبراهيم بن شَمَّاس السَّمَرْقَنْدي قال الأثرم: سمعت أبا عبد اللَّه ذكر إبراهيم بن شَمَّاس السَّمَرْقَنْدي، فأحسن الثنَاء عليه، وقال: كتب إليّ بعض أصحابنا أنّه أوصى بمائة ألف يُشترى بها أسرى من التّرك، قال: فاشترينا مئتي نفس أو نحو ذا. قال أبو عبد اللَّه: قتلَتْه الترك أيضًا، فانظر ما خُتِم له به مع القتل! وذكره مرّة أخرى فقال: صاحب سنّة، وكانت له نكاية في التّرك.
