النعت الأكمل لأصحاب الإمام أحمد بن حنبل" لمحمد العامري (ت ١٢١٣ هـ). ترجم فيه لأصحاب الإمام أحمد، من سنة إحدى وتسعمائة، إلى سنة سبع ومائتين وألف. فهو يعتبر ذيلًا لكتاب "المنهج الأحمد". وابتدأ الكتاب بترجمة الإمام أحمد (ص ٣١ - ٥١)، تكلم فيها عن: نسبه، ومناقبه، وولادته، وشيوخه، ومن رووا عنه، و"مسنده"، وزهده، ووفاته، ثم ختم الترجمة بالحديث عن المحنة، وأطال القول فيها. وقد أورد فيها قصة سقوط سراويل الإمام أحمد أثناء ضربه، كما أوردها كثيرٌ ممن تكلم في المحنة، وقد سبق أنها قصةٌ منكرةٌ لا تصح. - "
