المختصر في أخبار البشر" لأبي الفداء إسماعيل بن علي (ت ٧٣٢ هـ). ويعرف بـ "تاريخ أبي الفداء"، ذكر فيه أحداث التاريخ مختصرةً من "الكامل" لابن الأثير، وغيره. بداية من ذكر آدم ﵇، إلى أحداث سنة تسع وسبعمائة. وأتمه ابن الوردي إلى سنة تسع وأربعين وسبعمائة -كما سيأتي ذكره في "تاريخ ابن الوردي". تحدث فيه عن بداية المحنة في أحداث سنة (٢١٨ هـ)، وما تعرض له الإمام أحمد من التعذيب والجلد أيام المعتصم سنة (٢١٩ هـ)، ثم ترجم للإمام أحمد في حوادث سنة (٢٤١ هـ) ترجمةً مختصرةً، ذكر نسبه، وبعض من روى عنه، وما اتسم به من فضائل. - "
