    ٢٣١ - أحمد بن حفص السعدي (ت ٢٩٣ هـ) أحمد بن حفص بن عمر بن حاتم بن النجم بن ماهان السعدي، أبو محمد الجرجاني، يعرف بحمدان، شيخ ابن عدي. روى عن: علي بن الجعد، وسويد بن سعيد، ومحمد بن عبد اللَّه بن نمير. قال ابن عدي: تردد إلى العراق مرارا كثيرة، وكتب فأكثر، حدث بأحاديث مناكير لم يتابع عليها، وهو عندي ممن لا يتعمد الكذب، وهو ممن يشتبه عليه فيحدث من حفظه فيغلط. وقال أبو بكر الإسماعيلي: كان يعرف الحديث، صدوقا، وكان ممرورا (٢) وقال الذهبي: واه ليس بشيء. مات في سنة ثلاث أو أربع وتسعين ومائتين (٣).
