    ٤١ - أحمد بن الحسن، أبو الحسن الترمدي (بعد ٢٤١ هـ) سمع يعلى بن عبيد، وأبا النضر، وعبيد اللَّه بن موسى، وسعيد بن أبي مريم، وأبا نعيم، وأبا صالح الكاتب، وطبقتهم. وتفقه بأحمد بن حنبل، وكان بصيرا بالعلل والرجال. حدث عنه: البخاري، والترمذي، وأبو بكر بن خزيمة، وحدث البخاري عنه في "الصحيح" عن الإمام أحمد. ونقل عن الإمام أحمد مسائل كثيرة، قال أبو بكر: حدثنا عنه الأكابر بخراسان بمسائله عن أحمد منهم محمد بن المنذر، وكان قد قدم نيسابور في سنة إحدى وأربعين، وحدث بها، لم يظفر له بتاريخ وفاة. وله رحلة شاسعة، وباع أطول في الحديث (١).
