    ٦٢٥ - ما جاء في فضل علي ﵁ على سائر العرب حديث عائشة ﵄: "أنا سيد ولد آدم، وعلي سيد العرب" (٥). أنكره الإِمام أحمد إنكارًا شديدًا. قال الأثرم: قلت لأبي عبد اللَّه: رواه ابن الحماني فأنكره الناس عليه،فإذا غيره قد رواه. قال: من؟ قلت: ذاك الحراني أحمد بن عبد الملك. قال: هكذا! كأنه يتعجب. ثم قال: أنت سمعته منه؟ قلت: سمعته وهو يقول في هذا. قلت له: إن ابن الحماني قد رواه. قال: فما ينكرون عليَّ، وقد رواه الحماني؟ ! ولم يحدثنا به (١).
