[٣٢٣] على بن أحمد بن إسماعيل بن إبراهيم بن محمد بن مهدي الكتاني المدلجي أبو الحسن الفوي نور الدين. سمع من أبي حيان وأبي علي ابن شاهد الجيش ومحمد بن غالي وأحمد بن كُشتغدي وابن الإسعردي وطائفة. ورحل بولده أبي الطيب إلى الشام فأسمعه بها من أصحاب الفخر. ودخل بغداد وبلاد العجم وسمع بحلب وحماه وحمص وبعلبك والحرمين. وحدث وخرج. وكان فاضلاً كثير الفوائد. ومات بالقاهرة في جمادي الأولى سنة اثنتين وثمانين وسبعمائة.
