    ١٧٧ - حَرْمَلَة بن المنذر بن مَعْديكرب الطائي، أبو زُبَيد الشاعر المشهور، أحد المُعمَّرين. ذكر القُضاعي في كتاب "الخِطَط" تأليفه، عَن ابن عُفير أنَّه قال: أدرك الإِسلامَ من العرب عَشرةٌ طول كل رجلمنهم عشرة أشبار: عُبادة، وسَعْد بن معاذ، وقيس بن سَعْد، وجَرير بن عَبْد الله، وعديّ بن حاتم، وأبو زُبيد الطائي، وعَمرو بن مَعْد يكرب، ولَبيد، والأشعث بن قيس، وعامر بن الطفيل، وكلهم أسلمَ إلا عامر بن الطُفيل. وقال أبو عُبيد الله المرزباني: أبو زُبيد: حَرملة بن المنذر كان نصرانيًّا أدرك الإِسلام ولم يُسْلم، واستعمله عُمر بن الخطّاب على صدقة قومه، ولم يَسْتعمل عمر نصرانيًّا غيرَه، وبقي إلى أيام معاويةَ (١).
