    ٥٢٥٩ - هَرمس البابلي (٤)، وهرمس هو اسم عطارد باللغة الكلدانية. كذا في "فهرست" النديم وهو هرمس الثاني، والأول إدريس ﵇. وكان بعد الطوفان. سكن مدينة الكلدانيين وبنى بابل في زمن بر بن بالي الذي هو أول من بنى مدينة بابل بعد نمرود. وكان بارعًا في الطب والفلسفة، عارفًا بطبائع الأعداد وجدَّد منها ما كان بالطوفان وهو أول من تكلم على علم الكيمياء وله فيه نخب. وكان تلميذه فيثاغورس الأرتماطيقي. ذكره صاحب "العيون".
