    ٥١٤٠ - مَينَس الطَّبيب (٥)، هو الثالث من الأطباء الثمانية المشهورين، كانت مدة حياته أربع وثمانين سنة، منها عالم ومتكلم عشرين سنة. وكان بينه وبين غورس فترة وفيها من الأطباء سقوريدوس الثاني وأفلاطن الأول الطبيب وبقراط الأول. ولما ظهر مينس نظر في مقالات من تقدم فإذا التجربة خطأ عنده فضم إليها القياس وقال: لا يجب أن تكون تجربة بلا قياس لأنها تكون خطرًا. وله تلاميذ لم يزل الطب ينتقل منهم إلى أن ظهر برمانيدس. وكانت وفاة مينس على ما ذكره يحيى النحوي سنة ألفين ومائتين وأربع وخمسين من الهبوط، فتكون بعد الطوفان بقليل.
