    ٤٦٥٥ - الشيخ أبو علي محمد بن المستنير، المعروف بقُطْرُب النَّحوي (١)، المتوفى سنة ست ومائتين، لازم سِيْبَوَيْه وكان يُدْلِجُ إليه، فإذا خرج رآه على بابه، فقال له: ما أنت إلاّ قُطْربُ ليل فلُقَّب به. وأخذ عن عيسى بن عمر وكان معتزلياً. أخذ عن النظام مذهبه واتصل بأبي دُلف العِجْلي وأدَّب ولده ولم يكن ثقة في اللغة. وله من التصانيف "معاني القرآن" لم يُسبق إليه وعليه احتذى الفَرَّاء و "الاشتقاق" و"القوافي" و"النكت" و "النوادر" و "الصفات" و "الأصوات" و "غريب اللغة" و "مجاز القرآن" وغير ذلك (٢). ذكره السيوطي.
