    ٣٦١٦ - كَافُور الحبشي (٢) [يدعى له على المنابر بالبلاد المصرية والشامية والحجازية فأقام سنتين وأربعة أشهر ومات بمصر في جمادى الأولى سنة ٣٥٧ وكان عمره خمسا وستين سنة تقديرًا. وكان وزيره أبو الفضل جعفر بن الفرات. قال الذهبي كان كافور خصيًا حبشيًا اشتراه بنو الإِخِشِيد من بعض أهل مصر بثمانية عشر دينار ثم تقدم عنده لعقله ورأيه إلى أن صار من كبار القواد ولم يبلغ أحد من الخصيان ما بلغ كافور ومونس المظفري الذي ولي السلطنة بالعراق. ولما مات كافور وقع الخلف فيمن ينصب بعده واتفقوا على أبي الفوارس أحمد بن علي بن الإخشيد].
