٣٢٤٩ - أبو الحسن علي بن مَهْدي الطبري الشافعي (٣)، أحد الأئمة من أصحاب أبي الحسن الأشعري، صحبه بالبصرة مدة، وهو الذي ألَّف الكتاب المشهور في تأويل الأحاديث المشكلات الواردة في الصِّفات. ذكره العَبّادي في طبقة القَفّال الشَّاشي وقال: صاحب الأصول والعلم الكثير، صنّف الكتب في أنواع العلوم، [وكان] حافظاً للفقه والكلام والتفسير والمعاني وأيام العرب. انتهى. ذكره السبكي.
