٣٠٢٨ - الشيخ الإمام أبو الحسن علي بن حسين بن علي المسعودي، المؤرِّخ (٥)، المتوفى بمصر سنة ست وأربعين وثلاثمائة. كان من ولد عبد الله بن مسعود ﵁، بغدادي الأصل، انتقل إلى مصر فأقام بها وصنّف كتباً منها كتاب "أخبار الزمان" تاريخ كبير وكتاب "الأوسط" وكتاب "مروج الذَّهب" (٦) مختصران منه وكتاب "ذخائر العلوم" وكتاب "الرسائل" وكتاب "الإستذكار لما مر في سالف الأعصار" وكتاب "التنبيه والإشراف" وكتاب "خزائن الملك وسرّ العالمين" وكتاب "المقالات في أصول الدِّيانات" وكتاب "التاريخ" في أخبار الأمم من العرب والعجم وكتاب "البيان" في أسماء الأئمة وكتاب "أخبار الخوارج" وغير ذلك. من "طبقات النحاة الكبرى".
