٢٨٤٢ - العالم الفاضل عُبيد الله بن يعقوب الفَنَاري (٢)، من جهة الأم، المتوفى بقسطنطينية سنة ست وثلاثين وتسعمائة. قرأ على علماء عصره واشتغل غاية الاشتغال، ثم وصل إلى خدمة اليار حصاري والشيخ محمود، ثم صار قاضيًا بفلبه وصوفيا وسلانيك وآمد. وكان حافظًا لدفتر حلب والشام، ثم صار قاضيًا بحلب ومات بها. وكان فاضلًا ذكيًا كريمًا، له سخاء عظيم، صنَّف شرحًا للقصيدة الموسومة بـ"البُردة" وهو من أحسن شروحها. ذكره أبو الخير. وقال غيره: وهو ابن بنت محيي الدين الفَنَاري وأبوه من أمراء البحر واسمه في الأصل محمد، ولَقّبه أبوه بعُبيد الله.
