[من دولة العبيديين بالغرب ثم بمصر والشام ... تولى الأمور بنفسه إلى سنة ٥٢٨ ... وكان مريضًا بالقولنج فعمل له سيرماه الديلمي طبل القولنج ركّبه من المعادن السبعة فكان من خاصيته إذا ضرب به أحد خرج الريح، واستمر الحافظ إلى أن توفي بمصر في جمادى الآخرة سنة ٥٤٤].
