١٥٤٧ - الإمام الحافظ أبو إسمعيل حَمَّاد بن زيد بن دِرْهَم الأَزْدي مولاهم البَصْري الأَزْرَق الضرير الحنفي (٢)، المتوفى في رمضان سنة تسع وسبعين ومائة وله من العمر إحدى وثمانون سنة. حَدَّث عن أبي عِمْرَان وعمرو بن دينار وثابت البُنَاني وروى عنه عبد الرحمن بن مَهْدي ومُسَدَّد والقَوَاريري وعلي بن المديني وغيرهم، ووثّقه يحيى بن معين وأحمد وغيرهما، وأثنى عليه سائر الأئمة. وكان له أربعة آلاف حديث يحفظها، ولم يكن له كتاب وأخذ الفقه عن أبي حنيفة وهو الراوي عنه، أن الوتر فريضة، وله ذكر في "مبسوط" شمس الأئمة. ذكره عبد القادر وتقي الدين.
