١٤٩٦ - الإمام الكبير أبو علي حسين بن محمد بن أحمد المروزي الشافعي القاضي (١)، المتوفى في محرم سنة اثنتين وستين وأربعمائة عن ... وهو صاحب "التعليقة" المشهورة. تفقّه على القَفَّال، وعليه تففه المتولي والبغوي. وهو الذي جمع فتاواه المشهورة و [فتاوى] جماعة آخرين. روى عن أبي نعيم الاسفرايني وغيره، وعنه البغوي، وكان كبير القدر، مرتفع الشأن غواصاً على المعاني الدقيقة وكان عصره تاريخاً به، ويقال إنه أتاه رجل حلف بالطلاق أنه ليس أحد في الفقه والعلم مثله، فأطرق ساعة وبكى، ثم قال: هكذا يفعل موت الرجال لا يقع طلاقك. ذكره السبكي.
